This month, our team attended The Belonging Co Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, where Pastor Alex Seeley shared a message that deeply resonated with the heartbeat of Kingsworth.

Drawing from Matthew 7:24-25, Pastor Alex reminded church leaders of a simple but powerful truth: every lasting ministry is built on a foundation. Storms will come. Challenges will arise. Growth will bring complexity. But the things built on the right foundation will endure.

Her challenge was clear: go back to the foundation.

For many ministry leaders, it’s easy to become consumed by the responsibilities that come with leading a growing church. Systems, processes, meetings, vendors, budgets, and administrative demands all compete for attention. Yet when we strip away the layers, what remains at the center?

It should be Jesus.

Pastor Alex encouraged leaders to take a fresh look at the things they’ve built over the years. What started as the right solution in one season may not be the right solution for the next. As churches grow, it’s worth asking whether every process, partnership, and system still supports the mission God has called the church to fulfill.

That reflection extends far beyond ministry programming. It reaches into every area of church operations, including finances. Many churches began their banking relationship because it was convenient, familiar, or simply available when they were getting started. But years later, is that relationship helping move the mission forward? Is it aligned with the values and vision God has given your church?

At Kingsworth, we believe these questions matter because stewardship matters. We believe every process, every partnership, and every tool should serve the mission, not distract from it.

Pastor Alex said, “God’s not wanting us to go bigger, God’s wanting us to go deeper.”

Perhaps the invitation for all of us is to pause and examine the foundation. Where has complexity crept in? What systems are serving the mission well? What partnerships need to be reevaluated?

When Christ remains at the center, every decision becomes an opportunity to steward His church more faithfully.
